The Checksum program will ensure your CD didnt have any errors when it was created.
First, navigate to the Checksum site (the link can be found on the homepage)
Once you get to the web page, select the link that is titled "WinMD5Sum"
A window will appear that will ask if you want to SAVE FILE or CANCEL.
Select the option that is titled SAVE FILE
It will download the program to your computer.
You then open the program and it will start the installer wizard
A window will appear. Make sure the following are check marked: WinMd5Sum, Create Start Menu Icons, Put In Send To Menu, and Create Desktop Icon.
Select "next" and on the next page select "install".
After the program has installed on your computer, double click the desktop icon
Once the program has opened it will ask for a File Name and you select the browse option.
Then find the ISO file from ubuntu.com and double click it. After that select the option that says "Calculate". This is the check sum value of your file.
Write down the value and select the browse option again.
Go to your CD-drive and retrieve the file that is now on your CD and calculate the checksum value for that.
If the numbers are the same then the CD has burned the image correctly and is ready to use.
I have provided the checksum value in the table of the regular ISO file. All you have to do is check the value on the CD and compare with the value on the homepage.
